Islanders
I'm playing through my huge backlog of games, and thought I'd start out with some of my newest acquisitions, but these are a bit different. I'm giving my father a series of new games, since he has been playing the same one for years. He seems to like games that are full of strategy, low on non-mitigatable randomness, with the ability to master them over the long term.
Islanders is the second of those games, and boy is it a great game! You are given an island to build a civilisation on, and given 3 buildings to start. those buildings give you coins when placed well, and those coins unlock new building packs... until you can't buy the next pack, then you have either opened the next island, or you start a new run. It is super relaxing, and I do enjoy it quite a bit, and will probably play some more of it in the years to come.
