In this episode, Mario uses the key that bowser bestowed upon him in the Dark world to make it to the basement. It is there in the basement that Mario makes his way to the castle's sewer system, Hazy Maze Cave. Mario first avoids giant ROCKS in Hazy Maze cave to collect a Power Star in a very precarious situation. He then comes back to go swim with his friend Dorrie for a bit where he collects one Power Star in the bottom of the cave, and one Power Star in the metal cavern. He also decides to bump the button a little bit, which grants him access to the Metal Cap. After this, Mario's star count is at 12, which makes a toad appear in the basement. Talking to toad grants Mario his 13th star, but Mario still isn't done yet. He explores the basement some more, which leads him to drain the moat by ground pounding Boaz and Jachim. After Draining the moat, Mario decides to look to the skies where he's transported to a world full of wonder and red cap switches.
