I'm obviously on the games industry's side in general when it comes to cases like Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association (about the sale of certain violent video games to children without parental supervision), which was decided by the US Supreme Court recently and declared that games qualify as protected speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution. It's also fun to and kind of weird to find myself agreeing with a diehard conservative like Justice Antonin Scalia (who wrote the court's majority opinion) on *anything*...

Still, being the government-loving European that I am I'm not against *some* regulation of video gaming; although one would hope that the voluntary systems in place (ESRB etc.) work well enough that there's no real need for the state to get involved.
