Jade Cocoon [PS1] - Journey #356 (2/2)
0Jade Cocoon is a JRPG where you play as something called a Cocoon Master, a person with the special ability to capture monsters and use them for fighting other monsters. The story is set in a world with a never ending forest, filled with various monsters, and small human outposts. Your village is attacked by some of these monsters, and your task is to find an antidote for the sleep sickness the invading monsters caused.
The game is visually very impressive, and a lot of the conversations are voiced too, which is very impressive for a PS1 title. Mechanically, the game is pretty straight forward with the regular turn-based combat and some different equipments and abilities. Biggest drawback is that you can only have one unit fighting at a time, so no fighting at the side of your monsters.
I must admit I kinda like this game, even though it is very story heavy. The setting is very comfy, and the backstory feels very well written. Sure, the combat is kinda slow, but I still enjoy it.
