After spending sometime back at the Monastery, we get the option to head out on some more training exercises. Strategy RPGs don't have random encounters, so extra missions like these are the only way to keep progressing your units to keep up with the difficulty of the story.

Unfortunately, as we see here, it's really easy to underestimate their potential difficulty. Especially after you just stomped a story mission without any problem...
