Jaguar has unveiled its highly anticipated Type 00 Concept, marking a significant step in its transformation to an all-electric future. Making its debut at Miami Art Week in Florida, this concept is more than just a car—it is an artistic statement. Jaguar has intentionally chosen one of the world’s premier art festivals as the stage for this reveal, emphasizing its connection to creativity and modern design.

Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover explained the brand’s intention: “Our presence at Miami Art Week emphasizes Jaguar’s purpose as an advocate for art and creativity in all its forms. We know art is a passion for our future clients, so we are engaging with them directly in this environment.” This forward-thinking approach places the Type 00 Concept at the intersection of automotive design and artistic expression.

The Type 00, pronounced as zero-zero, is a vision of sleek minimalism. Its long hood and fastback silhouette are strikingly simple yet sophisticated. The front end is dominated by razor-thin headlights—two positioned high and two lower—complemented by a subtle rectangular grille embedded into the bodywork. The sides feature bold vertical panels behind the front fenders, reminiscent of the fourth-generation Range Rover.

Innovative details abound, such as brass ingots housing rear-facing cameras that deploy only when needed. Interestingly, the car lacks a traditional rear window. Instead, it features a “pantograph tailgate,” a unique mechanism that opens to provide access to a rear cargo shelf. Adding to its futuristic appeal, the Type 00 sports butterfly doors, offering dramatic access to the front seats. The rear is equally distinctive, with a full-width taillight bar incorporated into another rectangular grille design.

Jaguar describes its design philosophy for the Type 00 Concept as "Exuberant Modernism." Inside, this translates to an ultra-minimalistic cabin that pushes the boundaries of traditional automotive interiors. Flat front seats are separated by a central brass spine, creating a clean, almost sculptural aesthetic. There are no visible buttons or gauges. Instead, two large screens emerge from the dashboard when needed, one positioned on each side of the brass centerpiece.

The materials used in the interior further enhance its unique character. The seats are upholstered in a wool blend inspired by handwoven yarns, offering a tactile, artisanal feel. Most surprising, however, is the use of travertine stone for both the seat structures and the central spine. This bold choice blends natural luxury with a futuristic vibe, making the cabin feel like a work of art rather than just a functional space.

While the Type 00 Concept is a visual and conceptual masterpiece, Jaguar has kept details about its mechanical systems under wraps. What is known is that the car uses Jaguar’s new JEA platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles. The company is targeting an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated range of 430 miles, with the ability to recharge 200 miles in just 15 minutes using a high-speed charger.

Jaguar has confirmed that its first production vehicle on the JEA platform will be a four-door grand tourer, expected to debut in late 2025. Spy shots suggest it will share the Type 00’s low, sleek proportions, but the final design remains under heavy camouflage.

JLR Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mardell shared his vision: “The magic of Jaguar is close to my heart—an original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry, and emotional magnetism. We are recapturing the awe that surrounded iconic models like the E-type.”

The Type 00 Concept sets the stage for Jaguar’s future, blending bold design with cutting-edge innovation. Whether you see it as a car or a piece of art, it represents the brand’s commitment to reinvention.
