Batman and Superman may finally be sharing the same screen in 2016, but it’s that other DC Comics movie releasing that year that’s getting all the buzz lately. We previously told you that Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Will Smith were circling DC’s super-villain team-up movie Suicide Squad and today we are not only getting confirmed info on which roles they are up for, but that up-and-comer Jai Courtney is being added to the mix. Numerous sources are reporting that Courtney is currently in talks to play “Deadshot” in the film. In the comics, Deadshot, real name Floyd Lawton, is most known as a Batman villain, having at one time tried to take his place. He is a deadly assassin who becomes the leader of the Suicide Squad and is often motivated by the love for his daughter. He is bitter enemies with fellow Suicide Squad member Captain Boomerang, who is rumored to be the role that Will Smith is in talks for. Courtney has been landing several large franchises lately starting in 2013 playing John McClane’s son in A Good Day to Die Hard. He followed that up playing a bad guy in the Divergent series and will be seen in next summer’s Terminator Genisys playing “Kyle Reese”. Of course, Courtney landing the role of “Deadshot” in Suicide Squad isn’t confirmed just yet and according to Deadline’s sources, Courtney could instead be up for a role in another future DC movie. At this point, the only major superhero role that remains to be cast is Green Lantern, who is set to get a standalone movie in 2020 and will likely appear in 2017’s Justice League movie. As for the other actors, we previously told you that Jared Leto was being eyed to play The Joker and it has now been confirmed that Margot Robbie is in talks to play his sometimes girlfriend “Harley Quinn”. Tom Hardy, who played DC villain “Bane” in The Dark Knight Rises, is reportedly in talks to play “Rick Flag” the non-villainous leader of the Squad who is an expert in military tactics. Fury director David Ayer is set to write and direct Suicide Squad that will arrive in theaters on August 5th, 2016.
