Star Ocean: The Divine Force, a game that can be played on PC, PS5, and Xbox, is reviewed by George Yang for the PlayStation 5. The story's narrator is Mark Medina.
The Holy Force does a far better job of modernizing Star Ocean than its predecessor, even though it isn't necessarily the star of this long-running genre. The new battle rules, which offer more freedom and versatility than before, dramatically improve the previously confined fighting system. The main cast of people are likeable, even though the cosmos they are finding and the accompanying animations are far less intriguing. The Holy Force at least demonstrates that Square Enix's sci-fi JRPG absolutely earned a second shot, even though I wish its interface issues weren't quite so aggravating.
