In this video we discuss an amazing jazz harmonic technique: Line Cliches. This technique is found in many different genres, from jazz to pop to classical.

We demonstrate the use of line cliches in the song "My Funny Valentine" and "I Love Paris"
Creating a line cliche is fairly simple and it is usually done in the bass, although it can also be created in the melody or top notes of the harmony.

Wheel of harmony is a music theory series where we pick a harmonic technique at random (out of 12 essential harmonic techniques) and then teach the music concept and show examples where these techniques appear in jazz standards. We also apply the current jazz harmonic technique to a jazz standard to teach you how it works, and how to use it over different harmonic progressions.
