I hate it when things like this happen. The little known Smart Ball (or Jerry Boy) had an even less known sequel known as Jelly Boy 2. Besides fixing the Engrish mistake of the first Jerry Boy, the game was released about three years later and was slated for a Japan-only release, but it was cancelled at the last minute. Most can't seem to guess why, as the game is of high quality and trumps the original game in nearly every way imaginable, but if I had to guess, I'd say Sony may have been responsible for this one.

They were to help publish the game as well as having helped publish the original, but due to a strain between Nintendo and Sony around the time of the game's release and Sony moving on to their own system at the time, the Sony PlayStation (which we usually just spell Playstation), the game was probably cancelled as a result. I don't know why someone else couldn't publish it, but it really is a shame. People have fan-translated this game circulating around the web.

In Jelly/Jerry Boy 2, you get to play with a large cast of characters for a game of this kind, each with a special ability unique to them. The actual game engine has been polished, and you can do more tricks and fight more interesting foes. The colors are incredibly vibrant and stylized to an extent, and the music is good too. Enjoy.
