Jerp plays Resolutiion (demo) (2020-06-22)
0Resolutiion places you smack dab in the middle of some sort of hostile alien-or-post-apocalyptic world where you immediately encounter a host of strange creatures (especially the gigantic sand-swimming cats).
Unlike the quiet intrigue of Hyper Light Drifter which (interspersed with art that only hints at the lore), there's a bit of dialogue to help provide some insight - it seems you're sort of killing machine working for what appears to be hostile robot overlords. I found that a bit grim - I guess I'm more used to being forced into a 'good' role rather than evil. Based on the later half of the demo, it seems like you'll at least get to question your nature - or perhaps instead get some insight to what you _used_ to be? Were the planet's inhabitants were forcibly roboticized, but some shred of humanity remains?
On the other hand, there's some other creatures that lean more towards the type of body horror you might see from biological experimentation - I want to guess that after robots took hold, humanity tried biological weapons in response? The reverse would be equally interesting - some biological tech got out of hand and a robotic response turned into full-scale oppression and control of humanity? I could see some of the earlier dialogue interpreted that way.
