Jerp plays Vernal Edge (demo) (2020-06-15)
4Had this game pointed out to me earlier and I wanted to give it a shot before its Kickstarter completes (June 18th!). Vernal Edge is a metroidvania that focuses a little more on action-packed combat - similar to character action games w/flashy combos and juggle mechanics.
I really like the way poise/stuns are handled - you can't juggle enemies until you break their stance. In some ways it feels similar to the way Sekiro handled deathblows. The fact that it's incorporated into the boss fights is awesome. I also really like what they seem to be doing with the combo scores - it looks like the "V" max combo rank gives you infinite mana while you have it, which would be an amazing reward for skillful play.
