It looks like Lex Luthor will have a major role in the DC Cinematic Universe and he won’t just be facing off against Superman and Batman in 2016. Among the 12 films Warner Bros is set to release between now and 2020 is the little known supervillain team-up movie, Suicide Squad. The film is about a group of criminals that are tasked by the government to take on dangerous black ops missions in exchange for commuted sentences. It was recently announced that Fury director David Ayer was set to helm the project that will arrive in theaters on August 5th, 2016 and stars like Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie are reportedly close to signing on. Well, according to a new report, we should add Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor to that list. Deadline reports that Warner Bros is currently in talks with Eisenberg to join the cast of Suicide Squad though it’s unclear exactly how he would fit into the film. Our best guess is he probably won’t be a member of the team. In the comics, Luthor at one point puts together a version of the Suicide Squad, but he was the President of the United States and not actually part of the group. If he does end up appearing in the film, the addition of Luthor could be a great way to connect Suicide Squad to Batman v Superman and the rest of the DC Cinematic Universe they are creating. Of course, Eisenberg’s addition would most likely mean he would have to drop out of the Todd Phillips directed comedy, Arms and the Dudes as they would most likely shoot at the same time. Eisenberg is already set to star in Now You See Me 2, once production on Batman v Superman is done.
