Jim Plays... Blender? Very Basic 3D Tutorial / Behind the Scenes Intro Creation Thingy
This is a very basic introductory tutorial about Blender. I show how I did the modelling, materials and lighting for one of the buildings and the ground in my new intro for the Overlooked Oldies series. The intro itself was based on the graphics in the game Mercenary III.
I've never done something like this before, but TableWolfMusic asked me to do it, and I was thinking about trying something like it anyway.
I don't spend a lot of time explaining beyond the mechanics of what I'm doing, but it still managed to be a bit longer than I expected. Links to more comprehensive tutorials on 3D Buzz are below.
I may follow it up with another video about how to model the taxi and animate the scene if anyone is interested in that. But this very likely won't become a regular thing.
Blender is an excellent program and I actually prefer it to 3DS Max, which I used at University. It would be impressive for a commercial product, but the fact that it's free and open-source is just amazing.
