Overall, I really enjoyed Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel. The first thing that stood out to me was the music. it's genuinely incredible and adds a lot to the atmosphere. The visuals are also top-notch. For how good the game looks, I was impressed by how stable the performance was throughout. No crashes, no frame drops, just smooth gameplay.

I also appreciate the variety in playstyles. There’s a solid selection of classes to choose from, each with its own set of weapons, and the ability to pick which gods assist you adds an extra layer of strategy. The upgrade trees for each class and god are fairly expansive, offering a lot of customization.

That said, I'm not a big fan of how progression is handled. Unlocking upgrades requires gold, and the cost goes up the more upgrades you buy. It feels like artificial gating, and it makes the grind feel heavier than it needs to be. Compared to other games in the genre, like Deep Rock Survivor, for example, the progression here just isn’t as satisfying. I'd much rather level up and earn points naturally than be stuck behind a gold paywall.

Still, it’s a well-made game with great music, visuals, and performance. If the devs tweak the progression system a bit, it could go from good to great.
