Junkyard Simulator Prologue 2 First car, smashing some wrecks!
Due to the upcoming release of the (hopefully) finished game, I decided to check out the second demo that was uploaded to Steam some time ago. I had already checked it upon release, but I decided to play through it once again after several months to see whether they changed something or added a bit of new content.
I am waiting for Junkyard Simulator like for Christmas, seriously. In my current state of mind, I am in a desperate need for a good simulator that will help me find peace and personal zen. I know, long live ETS2, but I keep joking that the perspective of organizing virtual junk will have a soothing effect thanks to the impression as if I were organizing my life as such :D
Although the game looks promising, there are some MAJOR problems that, if not improved in the full game, will be a great con:
- the driving mechanics... oh boy, it is hard to describe the feeling of driving all the vehicles in the game... they have no momentum, no weight. It is as basic as it can be; there's no fun in maneuvering, the vehicles are just bricks on skids ;/ I hope the devs have improved the driving mechanics because otherwise the game will be a pain to some extent;
- the devs also removed one of the most promising mechanics: stacking individual items on the back of your vehicle. In my opinion, it was the best aspect of the game - to manage space and weight as well as drive carefully to avoid losing any of the cargo on the way to the junkyard. Instead, we have a classic inventory management system which, in case of this game, is as illogical as it can be: one huge engine takes as much space as one plastic bottle or piece of cardboard; a complete waste of potential BUT according to the devs' reply to my comment on Steam, they had to remove it from the game because many players had experienced crashes and technical issues while playing the game; I hope they will at least give an option (but I am afraid there will be none, we will only get this basic inventory system ;/);
- and the last thing - apart from the item renovation mechanics, there are no involving or immersive simulation activities: loading wrecks onto a vehicle, smashing the wrecks at the junkyard, the above-mentioned item management - everything is very casual and while there is nothing wrong with casual gameplay, I hoped for something more than that.
But, all in all, it is only a demo that has probably served for the devs as a "field survey" rather than an actual presentation of the game. Let us hope the final game will prove to be as entertaining as the first trailers suggested :)
