Justice League Movie Moving Forward Despite Rumors

Reports of the Justice League movie’s demise have been greatly exaggerated and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed. Warner Brothers attempts to do some damage control over recent rumors that next year’s Justice League Part One is getting delayed. Recently there were a number of reports stating that the response to those that have seen Batman v Superman have been mixed and that the studio was potentially looking to delay the Justice League movie and instead focus on a standalone Batman movie. Well, it looks like those rumors were just that as director Zack Snyder has announced via Entertainment Weekly that production on Justice League Part One will begin on April 11th for a planned November 17th, 2017 release. Production on the film will take place primarily at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in England as well as around London and in Iceland. Regarding the first full DC team-up movie, Snyder said quote, “The idea that we could begin to boot up a Justice League concept was a cool thing. It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming, but I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.” That world building will of course begin with next month’s Batman v Superman, which has already cost around $400 million thanks to production and marketing costs. Because of the large investment, many have speculated that the film will have to bring in around $800 million to $1 billion at the box office in order to be a success, but as Forbes points out, thanks to tax incentives, tie-ins, home media and merchandising, the film could do less than Man of Steel’s $660 million worldwide box office and still come out a financial success, though that seems highly unlikely. For now though, it looks like Warner Brothers is moving full speed ahead with their DC Extended Universe. Following Batman v Superman will be Suicide Squad in August and Wonder Woman on June 23rd, 2017. That will of course be followed by Justice League Part One and 2018 will bring standalone The Flash and Aquaman movies. Justice League Part Two, which will shoot separate from Part One, is currently scheduled for June 14th, 2019.
