New details have emerged about this summer’s Captain America: Civil War and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed! The latest details on Captain America Civil War confirms some long standing rumors and brings up even more questions! The latest issue of Empire Magazine has arrived and with it a slew of new info regarding the upcoming Captain America sequel. That means potential spoilers, so if you’re hoping to avoid even the slightest info for the next two months, best to go check out one of our other videos. Okay, so one of the biggest question marks when the film’s cast was announced was who Martin Freeman would be playing. His character’s name was left a mystery with the only real hint later coming from Freeman himself who described him as working for the American government to help tame those with superhero powers and it was unclear whether he was good or bad. This led many to speculate that he would be “Everett Ross”, a government agent assigned to Black Panther’s homeland, Wakanda. Well, that speculation turned out to be true as Freeman will be playing “Ross” in the film, a member of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre. He will be tasked with attempting to take down Captain America and Bucky Barnes in the film and will likely play a role in 2018’s Black Panther movie as well. In the first official photo of Freeman in Civil War, he’s spotted alongside Emily VanCamp’s “Agent 13”, aka “Sharon Carter” and some German SWAT team members. According to co-director Joe Russo, Captain America’s return to Germany will bring him “full circle” to where it all began in the first Captain America movie and will be emotionally challenging for him. Martin Freeman’s character wasn’t the only other big casting news that was revealed. It was also confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow will make an appearance as “Pepper Potts” in the film for the first time since 2013’s Iron Man 3. While she was not involved in the film’s initial production, it was revealed that she participated in recent reshoots. While casting news is great, the real excitement comes with our first official look at Frank Grillo as Hydra villain “Crossbones” and a new look at Elizabeth Olsen in her new “Scarlet Witch” costume. While we don’t yet know exactly how Crossbones will fit into the story, we do know that he’s out for revenge against Captain America over the events of The Winter Soldier. While the events of that film had a major impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Russo says the consequences of Civil War will have an even more significant impact that will change the psychology of the MCU. Co-director Anthony Russo went on to say that fans should expect a quote, “very dramatic ending that will be controversial for a lot of people” and according to co-writer Stephen McFeely, the film will also set the stage for 2018’s Avengers Infinity War.
