Kaiser Knuckle (Arcade) | Liza Playthrough (04/24/2023)
Kaiser Knuckle (Oversea ver.) Liza arcade playthrough. (Easy difficulty) (04/24/2023) (Arcade game, emulated by FinalBurn Neo)
This is another arcade fighting game I've been always wanted to do for a long time, out of my own curiosity, but two things; 1.) There's quite a lot of special effects for an simple, arcade exclusive fighting game, which made me kinda concerns about my gameplay to this game will be suffering quite plenty of slowdown frame drops, but I took the risks anyway, so expects that many if possible though, & 2.) the difficulty and the CPU A.I.s to this fighting game here mostly... Especially the controls too... Seriously, I've first tried it on normal at first when I saw and found this rom online, and as soon as I just started the first round, sometimes I did win one and sometimes I lose some. but to this game, it wasn't even just a fair matches, especially when I changed the difficulty to "Easy"!! (and it still on Easy todays too, even for this gameplay as well...)
First of all, I still enjoys playing this game as I really do like the composer to this game, Yasusiha Watanabe (Yack.), known for his works on other Taito games, such as Fighters' Impact and Puchi Carats, even did some of Arika games like Street Fighter EX2 Plus on PSX & EX3 on PS2. Evens the character design were still kinda neat too for an classic 2D fighting game, but the only exceptions were the aggressive CPU A.I.s, the misplaced difficulties, and even the confusing controls too...
The controls plays a lot like Capcom's Street Fighter II, as they were trying to makes their own Street Fighter II style, even also adapted the traditional Desperation moves from SNK too, (when your life meter were low enough and flashing red as you can use them by doing specific commands and multiple buttons) however though, to this game here, there's seems kinda bit complicated than both of them... Its still has the traditional six buttons from Street Fighter II series, which is both punches and kicks separate into three different strength levels each, but the real complicated is that pressing two each, like this for ex: LP+MP triggers an special command moves, act like an semi-mid or semi-strong. So instead of three different attack levels, this game has like either four or five different attack strength levels, which is more than Street Fighter or Darkstalkers combined, even Samurai Shodown 1&2 World Heroes Perfect on SNK Neo Geo. Once I did put an 3x Punch & Kick for the other two free buttons, after I've assigned each one in each corresponding patterns for the similar styles of each Capcom fighting games. Those two doesn't do any much as it won't be inputting either the LP+MP or the MP+HP combined...
Now for the chose of character I did for this playthrough is Liza, the wilderness jungle lady. The only reason I chose her as my main to game, cause she plays very simple and easier to understand the controls for this game, since her special moves were like mostly charge based and an continuously pressed kick move, kinda like SF2 Guile's defensive patterns mixes either Chun Li or Vega moves combined. I've tried other characters like Kazuya, whose were supposedly plays like SF2 Ryu or Ken, but in his own ways, somehow he doesn't match my type enough for this game as his command seems somehow confusing, as his "Shoryken" command with an kick instead of punch. I've also tried another character I've been also wanted to try out for this playthrough too, Lihua, an sword-wielding woman fighter, if I had to suggested it about her styles, she plays somehow like an Samurai Shodown character, maybe like Nakoruru, Ukyo, or even Janne from World Heroes too individually. She still also great to plays as at first for me, but I still need to practices her more til I'm able to mastered her style soon.
So in all else asides, I still enjoys this fighting game Taito has made so far for an good classic, 2D fighting game, even the music is great for Taito's legendary composer, Yasusiha Watanabe (Yack.), but both the controls, the CPU A.I.s, even the difficulty that were somehow not functioned rights, just doesn't somehow surpassed enough to competed against the two legendary 2D fighting game series, Capcom's Street Fighter II & SNK's Neo Geo games... If there were an either an standalone arcade port of the Arcade Archives series or an Taito arcade games collections soon, and this game were includes with it, then maybe I'll consider of getting it just for that game and try again sometimes, maybe even a few other Taito games like Fighters' Impact & Puchi Carats too.
