Kaiser Knuckle (JPN) [Arcade] - play as Azteca
This is a playthrough of single-player mode using Azteca in the Arcade game Kaiser Knuckle. Read on below for more information...
Azteca is the main final boss in this game. He is a non-selectable character.
For demonstrations of his time over poses see the BONUS timestamps in the Chapters section below.
===== ABOUT AZTECA =====
Azteca is a warrior of the Aztec tribe from Mexico. He participates in the tournament so that he can attempt to regain his own lost memories.
===== PERSONAL NOTES =====
I am quite sure that part of this guy's design was inspired by Vega (Claw) from SFII... his image portrait does have that Vega feel to it. His in-gameplay fighting style is completely different of course.
===== GAMEPLAY BOSS PROPERTIES =====
As Azteca is an unplayable boss character, he will of course have moves that are powerful, fast and have high priority. "Boss Properties" (as I call it) also tend to describe special moves that are performed via unorthodox/unusual command inputs (when compared to the regular characters).
His jumping Kick has insane range, inflicts good damage and has a large hitbox. All strength buttons of his jumping kicks are the same as he doesn't follow the strength rule as described below.
When it comes to Normals, he doesn't follow the rules of different strength attacks. Most of his Normals hit Medium or Hard despite using "Light" or "Medium" buttons to perform them.
One of his Special Moves is a Blanka style roll. This move comes out immediately, and if it doesn't hit the opponent he recovers from it very quickly too by landing.
===== TECHNICAL/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====
On the character select screen, when Azteca is highlighted, his icon on the wheel is of Barts.
In single-player mode, after he is selected and begins the game, he has no prologue scene. Instead, it just skips to the invitation message and proceeds from there.
He only has the one colour palette we see in the video.
Despite being an unplayable character, he operates perfectly on the Continue screens. You can see this starting around 06:52 in the video.
===== TRIVIA =====
The character designer for Azteca may have been inspired by the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure franchise. In this case, he may be based on the Pillar Men as his design shows; his mask is similar to the Stone Mask; the 'DIO' tattoo markings on his arm; and the pose he has in his image portrait and one of his winning poses resembles KARS' pose.
General's 'aura' special moves could have been inspired by M. Bison's hand auras from SFII.
In the game, in the invite text of the prologue, the world 'Knuckle' is spelled as "Knucle".
The USA version of the game is known as Global Champion. As well as the title text, the title screen is also different in it.
Kazuya, Lihua and Liza had their character select/versus screen portrait/icon images changed/edited in the non-Japanese versions of the game.
In the non-Japanese versions of the game, the medic who runs in after a match is removed.
In the non-Japanese versions of the game, the character prologues have been removed.
===== ABOUT KAISER KNUCKLE =====
Kaiser Knuckle is a game released in 1994, where the 'structure' of the roster is somewhat loosely based on Street Fighter II: The World Warrior - and that is with 9 selectable characters and 3 unplayable bosses. Because of this structure, General is a character that sort of reminds me of M. Bison in a way... only in terms of him being in a soldier's uniform and the whole army getup.
