The KDE development community today announced the release of the Plasma 5.25 beta.
KDE Plasma 5.25 this cycle continued advancing its Wayland support with the KWin compositor now more mature and various improvements/fixes landing. Plasma 5.25 also has a number of workspace UX enhancements, an optional floating panel for Plasma Themes, numerous gestures improvements, various new KWin effects, Discover has overhauled its app page, and much more.
More details on the many changes to find with Plasma 5.25 Beta can be found via KDE.org. Plasma 5.25 is aiming for its stable debut on 14 June.

Ready for even more improvements to come to the KDE Plasma desktop? I know I am and Plasma 5.25 Beta is now available.
This is readying up for a full release for everyone on June 14th, and they will also be holding a special "beta review day" of May 26th where anyone can join in for a day of "bug-hunting, triaging and solving alongside the Plasma devs".
Some of the improvements coming sound pretty great, a lot of it just fine-tuning the whole Plasma desktop to react better to certain situations and just give it a bit more spit and polish. I especially like some of the updates coming to the Discover software installer like an overhaul to the app page and showing permissions for Flatpak applications.
It's also good news for Wayland fans, as there appears to be quite a lot of bug fixes and overall improvements there too, over 200 in fact and that includes fixes and improvements for Xwayland too.
Also plenty of adjustments to the look and feel of Plasma with a nice rejection animation on lock screens / login for a wrong password, you can apply the accent colours of UI to match a wallpaper, tint the whole colour scheme with an accent colour, an optional floating panel for Plasma themes and more.
If you want to try it live, it looks like KDE neon might be a good one with their regular unstable iso downloads.

Right after the release of the KDE Frameworks 5.94.0, the KDE Project has kept its promise and released the beta version for the upcoming KDE Plasma 5.25 desktop environment. The newest version of the desktop environment is going to deliver many new features, some of them focusing on themes and accent colors.
New color scheme options
KDE Plasma 5.25 Beta delivers a new option to select components of the desktop environment to change with the theme. For example, you can exclude icons and cursors while applying a new global theme. In addition, all the color schemes can automatically adjust themselves depending on the current wallpaper being used. There is also a tinting option to apply to color schemes for a more harmonious look. All of the color scheme change processes are done with a smooth cross-fade effect.
The Touch Mode for KDE Plasma is also improved with the 5.25 Beta release. Users can fully control the Touch Mode for both X11 and Wayland sessions. In addition, the Task Manager icon spacing increases when the mode is activated for easier navigation.
Screen-shake warning in wrong password inputs
Plasma Workspace has a screen-shake effect now when the user enters a wrong password. The Plasma themes now support floating panels, which users can activate depending on their preference. KDE Plasma 5.25 Beta comes with better support for GTK apps that uses the Breeze GTK theme for matching the styling of Qt and KDE applications.
