Today marks three weeks since Canonical released Ubuntu 22.04. Shortly after, and as usual, made it known the name of the next version, a Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu that we can already try. For those who do not know the Canonical roadmap model, it releases a new update every six months, in April and October, and days later it launches the Daily Build, which is nothing more than the recently released version on which all will be applied. changes for the next six months.
Right now, news regarding Jammy Jellyfish is non-existent, but that's the first Daily Build. The real difference is in the name and the sources or repositories that each version uses. While 22.04 is using the official and stable Jammy repositories, Kinetic Kudu will use the developer repositories, and will receive updates daily. In fact, I'd say small patches may appear every few hours, although that will be more so several months from now than at this stage of development.
Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu is coming in October 2022
In addition to the first Daily Build of Ubuntu 22.10, Kubuntu 22.10, Xubuntu, 22.10, Lubuntu 22.10, Ubuntu MATE 22.10, Ubuntu Budgie 22.10, Ubuntu Studio 22.10 and Kylin 22.10 have also been published, in case anyone knows Chinese or is interested this desk. They can be downloaded from cdimage.ubuntu.com, accessing our favorite flavor and then the daili-live section.
About what it will bring, we can only almost guarantee that it will use GNOME 43 and a kernel version that will hover around Linux 5.20/Linux 6.0. It will be a normal cycle version, that is, one that is supported for only 9 months. With the passage of time we will discover specific novelties, including some of Canonical's own, as has been the case of anticipating GNOME in the possibility of changing the accent color in Jammy Jellyfish.
