I had originally planned to do an on orbit rendezvous tutorial, but then I had a few requests to explain how to land rescue craft close to a crippled lander. The trick here is after you perform the inclination change to pass over the target you create a maneuver node that completely stops your orbit. The node tells you how long it takes to stop, and approximating constant deceleration you can get the stopping distance by Multiplying orbital velocity by the stopping time and then dividing by 2, we can then use this distance to know when we need to start braking for landing.
