America's top diplomat - the new Secretary of State John Kerry - has refused to say whether America will respect the outcome of the Falklands referendum on sovereignty.

Mr Kerry has been talking to William Hague and David Cameron in London, on his first foreign trip since he replaced Hillary Clinton.

The Falklands were mentioned in his discussions with Mr Hague, but officials say their focus was the Middle East, Syria, and Afghanistan.
