KH 358/2 Days Playthrough #071, Days 119-120, M40 & M41, Deserters and a Morning Star
This is video #071 in my Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days playthrough. As the Day 119 title implies, there is work to do. There are four new missions if you unlocked Mission 41. Missions 38 and 39 have good rewards, so I recommend saving those for last to get a good multiplier. That Flower Charm accessory is good for its Anti-Flower ability, which makes Roxas resistant to Blind, as well as Magic Bracer, which keeps enemy hits from interrupting Roxas's spellcasting.
First, Roxas will do the optional Mission 40 on Day 119. This mission is to defeat Deserters in Olympus Coliseum. Great, another of THESE missions. Roxas arrives in the Outside the Coliseum area. All three treasure chests are located in this area: two Aero Recipes and a Cure Recipe. One chest is a Cymbal Monkey in disguise, so be careful.
In the Coliseum Vestibule, the Unity Badge can be found. In The Coliseum area, which is the arena, the Ordeal Badge can be found in the air over the southwest seats.
As for the enemies, there will be Soldiers mixed in with the Deserters. Those Soldiers can be ignored, but killing them in this mission will likely earn Roxas some Shield Tech items, which are useful in synthesis. As for the Deserters, they're not too difficult to wipe out at this point. Magic is helpful, particularly Fire. So are Limit Breaks.
Next, at time index 7:30, on Day 120, Roxas embarks on the optional Mission 41. He will have Xigbar as an amazing ally in this mission. The objective is to eliminate a Morning Star in The Coliseum area. Before the duo gets to the arena, there is a Thunder Recipe in a chest Outside the Coliseum. Watch out for a platoon of Li'l Cannons here. There is nothing of note in the Vestibule.
In The Coliseum, all the badges can be found: the Ordeal Badge, the Ordeal Blazon, and the Unity Badge. So can the two remaining treasures: a Gear Component A and a Thunder Recipe.
As for the fight itself, two Li'l Cannons will accompany the huge Morning Star. It is a good idea to take these things out first. Reinforcements will keep coming for a while as you take them out.
When the cannons are all defeated, it is safe to turn to the Morning Star. When the big ball of spikes is spinning, it can be Blocked fairly easily. The Aero spell also helps out. It is more dangerous when it is not spinning; it will repeatedly use jump attacks to crush Roxas. Clear the area when it jumps. When it lands, rush in and do a combo, then back away again. It is not too hard to evade these jump attacks, unlike the Li'l Cannons' homing shots.
This is a pretty good mission for Gear Component As, by the way.
There is a Zip Slasher waiting when Roxas returns to Outside the Coliseum. Xigbar is a good ally here. Again, let Xiggy draw the Zip Slasher's attacks, and then attack after the spin attack. If you're lucky, Xigbar will freeze the foe with Blizzara. The incentive for fighting this thing in this mission? An Elixir Recipe!
Rewards for this mission include Aero panels, Gust Shards, and more Shield Techs.
Thank you for watching!
