This is video #075 in my Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days playthrough. On Day 122, Roxas embarks on Mission 39 at Olympus Coliseum. This mission is to kill Heartless, but there will be another training Session from Phil. For this mission, you want to pack a few Blizzard spells and plenty of Thunder spells. Also bring along the Chrono Gear.

When Roxas arrives in the Outside the Coliseum area, he decides to avoid going in. There will be a couple of Flare Notes and a Jumbo Cannon in this area. Those Flare Notes should be defeated first with a Blizzard spell or two apiece, and then the Jumbo Cannon. Also take note of the two treasure chests in this area; you MUST collect them before defeating all the enemies. They contain a Technical Gear+ (3) and an Aero Recipe.

When Roxas has beaten all three foes, Phil will run out and draft him to defeat a big monster tearing up the Coliseum. Poor Phil can't seem to count his words correctly. ;-)

In the Coliseum's arena, Roxas finds the monster that has Phil worried: a Clay Armor. This is an upgraded Large Armor with a new attack: a shockwave that goes straight in front of it. However, its attacks are fairly easy to see and avoid. To knock it over, this time use Thunder, not Fire. It is much easier to aim this spell, too. When the big guy is down, rush in and attack its head, as before. Like the treasure chests outside, you have to grab the Ordeal Badge during the fight if you want it.

After the fight, Phil practically forces Roxas to take part in some new training. Gotta do it, unfortunately, or else we won't have enough hearts collected. First, Roxas can grab the Lightning Shard and the Unity Badge in the Coliseum Vestibule. Then, he can talk to Phil to initiate the training.

This training session is called "Practical Application." In this training, Roxas must knock barrels either into each other or into Soldiers. It is a little harder this time because there are now steps involved. Just wait, though; later training sessions will be even nastier. Other than killing Soldiers, the main point is to score at least 130 points so that Xigbar will give Roxas a Blazing Gem on Day 171. The best thing to do is knock barrels, especially explosive barrels, into the Soldiers.

Roxas can only do this training three times or until enough Soldiers have been killed to complete the main objective. To try again, you'll have to redo the mission.

When it is over, Phil sounds like he's just about to praise Roxas until he remembers he's supposed to be giving him a hard time. As Roxas departs, he crosses paths with Hercules again.

The rewards for this mission include Rune Tech(s) and Shield Tech(s). This is why I saved this mission for last, so I could get three of each of these items.

Afterwards, we jump ahead to Day 149. If you scored at least 100 points in Phil's training during Mission 36, you can talk to Xigbar twice to acquire a Bronze.

Xaldin also has an interesting comment: an Organization impostor has appeared. Interesting ... I wonder who it could be...

Anyway, with the Moogle Shop, we can now synthesize a Blizzard Block (L). It requires two Moonstones, three Shield Techs, three Frost Shards, and three Rune Techs. If installed in a Block panel, this will let Roxas sometimes freeze an enemy when blocking.
