0:00 Intro.
0:29 Naming our new boss's files and patching.
5:56 Introducing Emuhaste for RAM mods.
8:48 Testing AI outside of their scripted encounter.
11:27 Playing as the AI you're using (quick showcase).
12:12 Cloning events (.ards) and adding maps.
25:02 Introducing file dumps and Ps2dis for finding codes.
Things to note that I missed mentioning in the video due to being tired:
8:48: If you are planning on testing this on Crazycatz00's English patch, you will need to apply the offset fix .kh2patch included in the part 3 downloads. If you are patching in your own 03system.bin file over his English patch, then you do not need to include this.
10:36: The reason we test an AI outside of its usual scenario is to determine if we can be more flexible with the event we insert our new boss into. Since Demyx 2's AI breaks heavily from being pulled outside his event from the looks of it, it is best for the layman to just rely on cloning his event specifically when using his AI template for their boss. Someone like Marluxia that works near-perfectly outside of his event can be used much more freely when it comes to event cloning choice.
27:43: The text strings for the event shown here, along with the information box text certain AI/events call, will share the same text strings as the original. This means if you clone Demyx 2's event and change the pause text to "Defeat Auron", Demyx 2's pause text will also say that. Plan around this if you're doing a big project.
This will be a series that explores making a fully basic custom enemy/boss. In that sense, this will not be utilizing any custom sequences for something truly advanced, but that will be tackled later. This series is going to introduce many concepts, with this video focusing primarily on patching in new files, testing the AI outside of its usual scenario, applying basic cheats in Emuhaste, cloning events, and accessing your new file entries manually. Each video will tackle some concepts individually, to help with organizing all of this information. I have chosen to make Auron a boss for this specific example as he covers all the necessary bases for caveats when it comes to "but what about this" questions. You can see in my notes in the video some of the other concepts that will be covered. For the very few people left that mod this game, this series will serve to explain many of the things I do in Project Aqua. Enjoy.
