for the most part. As with Marluxia and Xigbar, his DMs reset Sora to the ground, but barring those moments, the whole fight takes place in the air.

As a whole, this run actually wasn't too difficult. His moveset being fully scripted makes it much easier to deal with compared to some others, and because he floats around and only attacks with projectiles and lasers, I had no difficulty staying in the air for the fight. The first attack where he sends the diamond projectiles gave me a bit of trouble though since Ansem floats downwards and I'd often miss and get hit by the projectiles instead. Beyond that, you can handle the rest of his attacks basically as well as you can on the ground, even the first DM albeit with airstepping.

The major hard part I had was during the second DM when he sends out the striped balls to combo you; those come out too close for you to air slide through them all, so I had to use the i-frames from Oathkeeper's shotlock to get through that part. Beyond that, here I didn't have to deal with the third round of attacks Ansem does at the end after the striped balls since I got him before that, though that attack's a bit tough to handle too.
