Let's be honest about what this game is. At the time, it was graphically impressive and an arcade port of a game that was visually stunning, technologically advanced, and popping with high octane set piece combos. Nintendo pushed the hell out of that game and the port was supposed to bring the essence of that action home.
The game, however, was not Street Fighter. It played a very specific way and while the graphics of the port looked great, it looked great compared to the MK clones and Rise of the Robots. MK and SF were still going strong at the time and were just plain better games. The graphics looked impressive in still frames, but lacked the size and sheer number of arcade sprites so when the game was in action, it really wasn't that impressive. The gameplay and fighting style was stiff and not up to par with the ACM'd Donkey Kong Country. It was not a classic SNES game, it just had a classic Nintendo hype vibe. It's OK if you can get it, it probably belongs in your SNES collection, but it really is just an OK fighter that takes a specific kind of fan.
