Here's a clip of when I earned the Platinum Trophy in Killzone: Mercenary on Playstation Vita. Read more...

I saved a simple trophy (Marksman; where you must "Kill an enemy at long range.") for last so I could record it.

This is my 3rd Killzone gaming experience. Playing a 1st-person shooter on the Vita took a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, this game is quite fun.

Story
----------------------------------------
The storyline in this was of a simple premise. It was actually a pretty interesting twist on the never-ending war between the ISA and Helghan. You play as a member of a Mercenary unit. Each mission pays out money that you can use to purchase upgrades/weapons/et cetera. Some of the scripted conversations were a little forced/goofy, but overall the game followed an interesting story.

Difficulty
----------------------------------------
There were 3 difficulties in this game: Recruit, Normal, and Veteran. You are required to complete all the main contracts on Veteran difficulty for a trophy. The good news is... it was pretty easy. Follow the same advice you always hear for this situation. Utilize cover, go slow, aim for headshots, blah, blah, blah.

Multiplayer
----------------------------------------
I didn't really enjoy my multiplayer experience in this game. It was limited to 3 mp match types: Warzone, Guerrilla Warfare, and Mercenary Warfare. With 9 maps and these 3 modes the experience gets old quickly; very quickly. Unfortunately, you are required to play, at least, 100 online matches. Now I don't know about your internet connection (and having to rely on wifi), but I had trouble getting into matches every time I tried. I tried coordinating a boost with a friend (thanks Rowdi), but we had difficulty even getting into the same match together. I don't want to say the mp is un-boostable, but it didn't work out for me. In the end, I feel the multiplayer could have been left out of this game.

Trophies
----------------------------------------
The single player trophies were all pretty straight forward and simple enough to complete. There won't be much satisfaction in earning a ton of trophies in a short amount of time though. I didn't start earning the trophies until I had completed the game 2+ times. The multiplayer trophies were pretty tough. Between having difficulty getting into lobbies with other human players and actually getting into a situation that you could perform the required action, you are often left fairly frustrated. The killer of the trophy list was the 10,000 kills. While this is a cumulative total across all game modes, it takes a long time.

For such a short game, the platinum was pretty time consuming and difficult. I would definitely recommend the game, though.

Platinum Difficulty: 6/10
Overall Enjoyment: 5/10
