EDIT: There are now 2 DLC packs with trophy support.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4)

Overview
---------------------
SoM is an open-world third-person action/adventure game. The gameplay, to me, feels like a healthy mix of Assassin's Creed with a fun combat system that's quite similar to the first couple Batman games on PS3. The game offers a nice variety of things to do like collectibles, story missions, side missions, hunting, gathering, etc. The bad news is the gameplay gets a little redundant. By the time you finish all the trophies for the main game, you may find yourself a little bored working through the DLC trophies... if that's your thing, of course.

Story
---------------------
This game has a nice flow to the story. There is a constant flow of "new" content as you progress. It seemed to tie into the other LotR movies/games nicely, but as more of a side story.

Difficulty
---------------------
There is no difficulty select. The game starts out a little rough in terms of difficulty however. This is mainly due to a slight lack of explaining the overall concept of how to use the Map and Sauron's Army pages. As you progress through side missions and earn upgrades, the game becomes quite easy if you can grasp the combat system and deploy some forward-thinking tactics when going after the Warlords.

Trophies
---------------------
The trophies in this game are all fairly straight-forward, but most will require some specific action that isn't really something that you will simply encounter while playing through the story. You will, most likely, need to check out the trophy list and keep them in mind while playing in order to position yourself to earn them.

Multiplayer
---------------------
There is no multiplayer in its standard definition. There are however, online leaderboards that you can measure yourself up against in Challenge mode. Another interesting twist to the "mp" is that you will encounter optional revenge missions; these missions are basically killing a captian that killed one of your buddies on your friend list. There isn't much of a reward for doing them, so I would stay away from them for the most part.

DLC
---------------------
There are several DLC packs available that add extra story-based content. There is currently only one DLC pack with trophy support though. The trophy list for this DLC is mostly easy enough, but there is one trophy in particular that may give you a bit of trouble... "The Hunt is my Mistress" where you must Complete all objectives in the Test of the Wild. This description doesn't really make sense until you find the Test of the Wild challenge from the main menu. There are a few constraints that you must meet and they are tricky.

Platinum Difficulty: 3/10
Overall Enjoyment: 5/10
