I heard horror stories about this boss, so I knew I needed to do some research before I throw myself in the dark abyss.

I found a great strategy for this boss by bizkit047 that prioritizes long-range attacks over shorter ones.

Stock up on a couple of Hi-Refocusers, an elixir, and an ether.

Use the Ever After Shotlock to deal massive damage. When your focus gauge is drained, use Simba and just pounce on the boss. Try to make sure the boss is fairly close to the ground when you to this.

Do not use your either or elixir right away. Instead, let your MP gauge refill over time. This will require you to dodge Sköll's attacks for a bit, and unfortunately, this may require a bit of luck because the camera very rarely freaks out when the boss is running around the screen (terrible boss design).

For the time section, make sure you come in with full MP. If you don't have it, use an either or elixir. If you don't have either of those, you're doomed. Just restart.

Depending on how high your stats are, you may be able to defeat the boss by just spamming Shotlock and Simba with little dodging in between.

Also, I took a meal for this boss fight, which honesty went to waste because it only adds a few points of MP that does not matter for this fight.

It took me two hours to defeat him, but that is nothing compared to the two days it took for me to defeat that tree boss...

Practice, practice, and more practice is the only solution.
