Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 100% Part 33 - Finale
Well here we are, it's final boss time. As far as the fight with Ansem goes, I'd say that he's slightly easier than he was when he possessed Riku but he's by no means a pushover, my strategy is to protect myself with Aeroga to deflect his spinning discs back at him to leave him open for damage and whenever I can I hit him with Ragnarok to deal decent damage. One thing you might notice is that after the battle, Ansem's Guardian isn't behind him after the battle is over, that's not a glitch, Goofy got hit by the *Submit* punch and as a result the Guardian doesn't appear behind Ansem in the next cutscene.
Between both Ansem battles, you take on Darkside for a third time and he's not at all a threat by this point, he goes down in seconds if you know what you're doing even on some lower levels with the right equipment.
Ansem gets a couple new attacks in addition to the ones he had previously, but so long as you watch his attacks and strike when possible you should be good. By this point I've already reached level 100, so I was more than prepared for the encounter, but I took off any strength increasing accessories I had so that it doesn't look like a total curbstomp as taking those off is kind of like being at level 60 or higher and equipping the best keychain you currently have when you get to The End of the World.
Then shortly after you beat him, he turns into a giant god monster called the World of Chaos, because of course he does. In this phase you're in flight mode for most of the battle with two phases dedicated to getting your party members back, once you destroy the core, Ansem rises up for round two but by this point he should go down pretty quickly if you're high enough level and have good equipment.
So, what do I think of this game? I like it, in some spots it does show its age but it's a fun game to play all around. From a gameplay perspective, I enjoy this game quite a bit, and I have no issues going back to it.
In terms of story, it's easy to follow but it's mostly because the Disney stuff is mostly self-contained and the main gist of the story is Sora and the gang looking for their friends, finding their friends then watching them get separated again, as far as the main villain Ansem goes he doesn't really have much in terms of depth to him and any depth he may have is left to the optional Ansem Reports, if the story centered a little on Ansem's folly, fleshing him out more and if the story weren't entirely focused on light vs. dark and how friends are great then he might've been a little more interesting, and without the Ansem Reports for proper "context" he just kinda appears out of nowhere.
Until next time, I shall catch you guys in the next playthrough. Adios amigos.
