Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix
Ep. 44: Mysterious Figure
Difficulty: Critical
You were waiting for this weren’t you? Guess the cat’s out of the bag. Time for us to deal with this bad boy, the Mysterious Figure or should we say Young Xehanort.
Young Xehanort is one of the most difficult post-game bosses ever, more so than No Heart. His various attacks will drain you down to 1HP in the blink of an eye. They can range from blade combos, Collision Magnet, a cross slash, a dash jump combo, time snares and he even packs magic too. For starters he’ll use Raging Storm and then dash about for a while and he even does a Tornado attack that blows away your command deck if you get hit. As his health dwindles, he gets dangerous using Vanish to disappear and attacking with either Mega Flare or Meteor.
To explain how to beat him is an experience in and of it because of how difficult he is. What I will provide is some advice on how to prepare for it. You need at most four Thunder Surges & four Curagas in your deck. You also need to have Once More, Second Chance and have your Attack Haste, Magic Haste and Treasure Magnet at max. It’s so that way you can be able to have a chance because even I had trouble… a lot. All I can say is that you need a lot of skill and luck to take him down. He will have many openings for you to attack so use them. Also he’ll block your attacks and heal if you get too triggerhappy.
At least in the Final Mix version of this game, he’s somewhat toned down. His Collision Magnet originally wouldn’t let you escape but now you are able to air dash out and avoid the second hit. But he is still dangerous so bear that in mind. Ven and Aqua are lucky cause they have evasive moves like Dodge Roll and Cartwheel that give them invincibility frames. Terra’s the unlucky one cause he doesn’t so you’ll need a lot of skill with him if you want to win.
Beating Young Xehanort gets you not only the trophy Time’s Teller but also the No Name keyblade, a keyblade exclusive to the overseas version of BBS as well as the Final Mix version.
Next episode, we’re going to head to the Mirage Arena & conquer the many trials there.
