Like the previous entry, this game was retitled as King’s Field 2 in the west when it is actually King’s Field 3.

I am using a hack to bypass the 15 frames per second this game is limited to because playing this at 15 frames per second (mostly less) is a complete misery.

Go ahead and give it a try yourself. It really sucks.

This hack comes with a few downsides and there are still significant slowdowns but sound effects, cutscenes and whatnot all play at their correct speeds.

This is segmented and edited. I’m also using a widescreen hack and PGXP.

Notes
Regarding not buying a second pic: I really should have. It would have saved a few minutes.

After I go through the Caves of Garan, it is necessary to grind XP until I reach ~26k total for the level 3 Excellector, which is required for the Ichrius Key, which itself is required for the Moonlight Sword side quest.

I did the grind by using the ghosts in Hill of Prayer as they respawn infinitely. They’re only worth like 18 XP per kill but there are so many that it probably beats out any of the prior locations. The enemies in Fields of Ice and Caves of Garan do not respawn and once you free Veyrac, all of the enemies in Cason Village are removed.

Once done, I take a dip in the water to teleport me back to Quist Village to give the level 3 Excellector and the three Ichrius items to Leon to make into the key. I’ve determined that moving away from the house will cause Leon to move into it, after which you need (or should, not 100% certain) to speak to him and then wait 8ish minutes for his dialogue to change to “It will be done shortly.”

Then, all you need to do is move away from the house and then back to it for the key to spawn.

To kill time for this, I go loot the Capricorn Sword since it may or may not be a requirement for Sword Magic. I am at least certain that Sword Magic level 1 requires you to speak to Veyrac when you have 50 in each element. It's probably a 50 strength requirement as well.

Sword Magic level 2 is taught by Alexander when you use Lyn’s ring on the fountain outside of Verdite Castle after learning level 1.

The reason why I don’t sprint everywhere is because the PS1, even emulated, can’t keep up with it and it causes a lot of pop-in. The pause when entering a new area is primarily for segmenting purposes but also to avoid some issues with doors getting stuck and textures, which is probably a loading issue. You should see one of the texture examples at some point.
