King’s Field & Shadow Tower Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPO56tlewLYT2sh9pWwAGQRiCsg43Lqvy
Also known as simply King’s Field in the west due to a similar situation as Final Fantasy 3 & 6.
This is segmented and edited. I’m using a widescreen hack and PGXP. Beetle reproduces slowdowns and this game chugs pretty hard.

Segments more noticeable this time around due to the challenges involved with recording this. At least until I'm able to start teleporting.

Notes
Information about King’s Field 2 is in short supply, so I do some things that are ultimately unnecessary or just simply shouldn't be done when I do them.

Regarding the Dark Slayer: My trial and error seems to have determined that Leon needs to say “I need more time.” after which, you need to level up once before you can trigger its appearance.

If you speak to Leon after leveling up but before defeating the Coliseum boss, it will be stolen and appear in the Coliseum after the boss. If you don’t speak to Leon again and defeat the Coliseum boss, it will appear in Leon’s house.

The requirement for sword magic this time around is 60 strength/magic. I was just short of this at the end, so before heading to the final boss, I did stop and grind the two levels out that were necessary. I did this by going to the poison room near the Coliseum and doing laps around the room to respawn the enemies.

I did actually map the item placements myself. There are probably 2-3 times as many placed items as the original game and I’m pretty sure I missed a lot of them since I couldn’t be bothered rubbing my face all over the walls Doom-style.

It's pretty crazy is that this is a perfectly executed non-linear 3D world on a PS1 in 1995. The vast majority of the game is optional and you could beeline straight to the end of the game if you know what you’re doing. You’d get slaughtered by the bosses because the point of it all is to prepare you for those encounters but you could do it.

Really impressive game, if you can get over how it looks.
