These are strange and unsettling times across the globe as we all go into Lockdown. I'll be trying to upload a video a day if I can just to do my bit to make social distancing slightly more tolerable. Please respect the guidelines and let's all get through this together.

Due to laptop/internet issues I've not been able to upload for a few days but I've cobbled together a solution temporarily so is a second video today to make up for the delay :-)

This is Klax on the Nintendo GameBoy. It is a conversion of the popular Atari arcade puzzle game (the Atari Lynx has an absolutely fantastic conversion with colour obviously but also astonishingly good sound that I will be showing soon when I get to my Lynx games

The game set up is simple. a 5x5 (hey Faith ;-) )Well and a five conveyor belts bringing tiles of differing designs relentlessly towards a perilous drop. Control the paddle to collect them and drop them into the Well. Get 3, 4 or 5 in a row either vertically, horizontally or diagonally and they disappear and you gain points. You can "flip" tiles back up the conveyor belts to manage the sequence, you can also "stack" up to 5 tiles on your paddle. Fun and frantic game.

I play it TERRIBLY here due to the lag caused by the Capture Card which means I miss a couple of easy tile pick ups. It looks good on Super GameBoy though and it really helps with visibility and distinguishing the different tile designs which can be difficult on the original monochrome GameBoy. Ace on an SP though :-)

I play it here through the Super GameBoy in order to show the game a little clearer. For some reason my capture card always seems to struggle with the SNES (and therefore the Super GameBoy) not sure why as everything else pretty much works fine through it. I'll try and work out what the issue is as I have quite a lot of original GameBoy games I was thinking of uploading videos of.

On this video I didn't ZOOM/CROP the screen so you get the full "standard" Super GaneBoy border. If you prefer these videos cropped to make the gameplay portion bigger then just let me know. Let me know what you think.

I'm also thinking of doing a series of videos on specially enhanced Super GameBoy compatible games - including the very clever game and programming designed to maximise the use of colour while remaining compatible with the original monochrome handheld, multiplayer modes, enhanced sound and even a hidden game. Let me know if you'd like to see this sort of thing.

As always if you enjoy this video let me know. As always this is running on original hardware. Also let me know if there are particular games or systems you'd like to see.

As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
