Part 2. This was honestly why I played Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. And I was happy that I did, but Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil is the superior game in just about every aspect. To start the mechanics are identical to the first, it's nice that they remain largely the same. You do seem to move a bit more smoothly though. The graphics get a huge upgrade and are colorful and gorgeous. I love the level designs here and they really are varied. You go to water parks, MC Escher styled museums, industrial styled cities, even snow covered regions. The game also adds in a new gimmick I wasn't so sure about when I saw it first. Much like the early 2000's everything had to be cool and add some sort of extreme sport and Klonoa is no exception. So here we have hoverboarding, not just snowboarding, but also boarding in water and in space. The levels are not that hard, but trying to grab all of the stars does add some challenge more so in the hoverboarding levels. Just like the original Klonoa you have 2 levels and then a boss, but at least the boss is a separate level unlike the first, a nice quality of life change. The story is still cute and Klonoa is trying to stop sadness from taking over another dream world. The characters still make overly cutesy sounds as the the dialogue pops up on screen. The music on the other hand is freaking wonderful in this game. There are still some cutesy and overly sweet tracks, but there are far more pleasing tracks. I think my favorite level is the Maze of Memories. The level is just wild and amazing. If you collect all of the stars and turn them into the Momett at the circus he'll unlock 2 bonus levels. These are similar to the level you unlock in the original Klonoa. I think they are slightly easier than the first games, but still a tough challenge. They also eliminate the need for lives. In the first you can run out and have to restart the whole level. In this you get infinite tries so that pressure is off, but I also think that it allows you to get better at the tough sections quicker since you do not have redo prior sections over and over. I genuinely believe this game is amazing and one of my favorite platformers. It's a classic. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
