I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started this game and I walked away happily surprised. It's a side-scroller platformer presented in 2.5D. The environments are fully rendered in 3D and you just run along on a 2D plane. It's actually very clever. There are alternate paths that lead to secrets and have you traveling on different planes which is clever. Each world has 2 levels followed by a boss which is setup in a 3D arena that you run around surrounding said boss. The game controls fine and you just have 2 moves. One jumps and the other sends out your wind ring which grabs enemies. The enemies can be used in one of two ways, the first is you can jump off of them for a double jump. The second is you can throw them either to kill other enemies or to hit and break open some objects. The cool thing is that stuff is hidden in the foreground and the background which can be broken open to find collectibles and 1-ups. I love the fact that the game is short, the levels aren't all that long and there are just a handful of collectibles. There are 6 people hidden in each level and if you find them all you unlock an extra level. The bonus level is a pretty tough challenge and really tests your understanding of the games mechanics. It kicked my butt for a good long while. I also got stuck in the final level because I overthought my situation and was trying to accomplish something far harder than what actually needed to be done. The graphics are solid for a Playstation game and are very cute which extends over to the characters and the story. The characters while talking make these way to high pitched and squeaky noises. I think they tried a but too hard to get you to think these characters are adorable. Speaking of which the music is very sweet not a word I would often use to describe the cutesy music. It's not bad but most of it is not to my taste, though there are some nice tracks, especially towards the end of the game.I had a really fun time here and enjoyed the crap out of the challenging bonus level. I always love pushing my limits and this one sure does test your skills. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
