This is a very silly and also very awesome game. A set of GOOD BIG DUDE professional wrestlers set out to stop the plans of a bunch of EVIL BIG DUDES. We start out playing an Elvis impersonator whose jump kick can (for some reason) be canceled into another jump kick, giving us access to a ridiculous midair frenzy that's quite effective in putting the hurt on the bad guys on both sides. Later we play a NINJA DUDE and after that a FOOTBALL DUDE.
Joshthefunkdoc put this on my radar a while ago, and I also learned routing by watching playthroughs by LordBBH and a no-miss run by LRock617.Throughout the game, as Horse_ebooks says, "Everything is happening so much". There's all kinds of stuff going on in the background. Just check out the background of stage 8!
Knuckle Bash moves fast. Typical beat-em-ups have many waves of mooks that have to be defeated every few steps (or every few floors on an elevator sequence). Here there are as many boss battles as there are waves of regular opponents. And the fighting is speedy - damage is high, attack strings are brisk. Only the "mash the button" bonus stages drag the pace down.Such a big fun mess of a game. It's not easy at all for a new player, but there are strategies to make it a fairly easy 1cc (especially given the extra lives you get along the way).
