Koei Tecmo: Their History and how they made History.
263Koei Tecmo, If you don't know their name you can color me surprised, but you at least know their games. Koei of course being the creators of the Dynasty warriors franchise, and tecmo being the creators of Fatal Frame and Ninja gaiden.
Both companies have much more under their belt than this though and have a very storied history of their rise to fame.

Due to the nature of this information and how it was translated for the west 100% authenticity is not entirely possible but this is the general consensus for how things went down. The issues of course arise from Japan having a pretty closed-door approach to business practices, and a lot of the information we do have being shoddy translations of japanese news websites and legal documents. Furthermore some claims that used to be sourced now link to dead and disbanded websites and so a small degree has to be taken on faith that it was and still is accurate.
To avoid confusion I differentiated between Tecmo and Tecmo Co Ltd, but so far as I can tell both companies at the time were both named Tecmo Co Ltd. Such a thing is possible if the development arm of the company and the publishing arm are located far enough apart but specific information regarding this has been hard to source to corroborate.
