1999, and the millenium was fast approaching. Enter SNK's latest KOF, this time around, King of Fighters 99.

KOF 99 began a whole new story in the KOF mythology, focusing on a techno cartel named NESTS, who were cloning Kyo Kusanagi in order to make themselves an army and conquer the world.. Why would they want to clone Kyo, when cloning Geese or Rugal would have a much more efficient effect is beyond me. Yes, we're moving on from mythological evils, to technological terrors.

This game saw the debut of a new hero, name of K' (pronounced K-Dash) and his pbrickheaded cyborg pal Maxima. They want NESTS dead and thus pal up with Benimaru and Shingo. Other new faces appeared such as Whip, K''s sister who hangs around with the Ikaris, serving as replacement for Leona's pants pisser dad Heidern, Jhun Hoon, a pretty boy who's actually pretty damn awesome. He helped Kim rehabilitate chang and Choi, and Li Xiangfei from REal Bout 2 joins up with King, Mary and Kasumi. Also it introduced Bao, but honestly, does anyone give a fuck about him?

One notable character in the game was the final boss, named Krizalid. Krizalid was cloned from K'.

wait, time out....they cloned K'. Who is already a clone. Yes, as it was, NESTS budget was so low, they had to clone their clones. WHAT.

Who's bright idea was that? Maybe the conversation went like this.

Captain Generic: Um....Lord Igniz, sir?
Igniz: What?
Captain Generic: We're K-kinda low on cash, sir and....umm, NEST Sisn't made of-
Igniz: Get to the point captain before I turn your nose inside out.
Captain Generic: I was thinking, maybe we ought to clone some of our clones. Its quick, cheap and we''ll have an army either way.
Igniz: hmmm....I like that idea. It might just work! ZERO! Promote this man!

Anyway, Krizalid had two forms. His first form had a heavy overcosat and only two specials: a Fireball and a diving kick. Krizalid wasn't too unbearable in this form.

Of course, once you got his coat off and got him into his second form, all bets were off. Suddenly Krizalid has a fuckton of specials and supers with which to happily mutilate you with. And he will, trust me. If he isn't dragging you to hell with Desperate Run, he's filling up his meter super quick by spamming Typhon Rage.

Once oyu actually manage to beat him (Krizalid: I LOST? POWERFUL ME?), Krizalid tries to get back up, but an ominous voice declares him finished. Its NESTS, obviously, who may have finally got the messsage that cloning their clones isn't very smart. Thusly, they off the poor lad by dropping a rock on him.

At one point after the credits, Heidern asks what his real name is. Krizalid dies, before he divulges. I guess Krizalid would rather die than satisfy the undeservable wants of a coward like Heidern.

Anyway, Krizalid was never playable in the Arcade unless the Roulette option felt nice to you. He was happily usable in the Dreamcast and the PSOne Evolution port.

But since we live in a world of super hackers, he's now fully usable in the Arcade port. Here's the state for you all, courtesy of me and SuperGalvatron: http://randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/SUPERGALVATRONSCORNERSHOP/GamesFeatures/SSSS/main.html

And here's Krizalid's specials:

Fireball (1st form): QCF and punch: Well...its a fireball. Yay?

Dive Kick (1st form): QCF and Kick in mid air: Its a dive kick. Not much else to say.

Typhon Rage (2nd Form): QCf and Punch: Krizalid does a roundhouse which sends a ring of wind out. The low punch version covers more ground and is good for nullifying gratuitous fireball spam, but hte High punch version does more damage.

"You Suck" Leg Throw (2nd Form): QCF and Kick: Krizalid does an axe kick. IF you're too close to him when he raises his leg, he throws you to the ground. Otherwise, he just smacks you silly

Desperate run (2nd form): HCB and Punch: Krizalid runs towards you, grabs you adn shoves you to the side. You can press forward and Punch for a follow-up.

SHORYUKEN (2nd Form): Forward, Down, Down-forward and Punch: Look at it, dammit.

DESPERATION MOVE: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!: QCF, HCB and any Punch:: Krizalid shoves you into a wall and unleashes the fury of Dio Brando on you. The SDM version has a two handed impalement explosion. the DM version just ends with a Falcon Punch.

XFire: QCB, HCF and any punch:L Krizalid flexes, covered by a fire pillar. Thaen he proceeds to fire off a fiery X at you.

Wing'ed Death: QCB, HCF and any punch (LOW HEALTH NEEDED): Krizalid does his XFire motion again, this time sporting a sexy pair of fire wings, before he rushes you and burns you so BAAAAAAAAAD-UH.

HSDM/MAX2 (2002UM only): Lightning Disaster: Appearing for the first time in 2002UM, this HSDM, called Lightning Disaster (Awesome name. REally, it is.), Krizalid charges forward, the screen goes black and the opponent finds themselves assaulted and raped by a thousand lines. Its kinda like Ciel's super in Melty Cru- I mean Melty Blood.

There's all you need to know about Krizalid. Have fun.
