KSP basics for Kerbal engineers 1x03 - first rockets and orbiting without sugar!
Today we will focus on creating simple rockets that can do a lot starting on hopping, going suborbital and finishing with orbiting.
Everything is hard till we practice to make it easier the next time we do it.
Kerbin atmosphere/orbit height levels to perform science on:
- low atmosphere till 18km
- high atmosphere till 70km
Kerbin orbital height levels:
- low orbit from 70km
- high orbit from 250km

Atmosphere aerobraking:
- Exosphere 50km till 70km (space starts at 70km) - marginal drag and heat exposure for a slow and safe aerobraking maneuver
- Thermosphere 20km till 50km - low drag and high heat generation while passing through, ideal aerobraking at least at 40km will put a craft/pod into stable orbit
- Stratosphere 8km till 20km - high drag and craft air cooling - at this point the craft will slow down significantly and can deploy main chutes or drogue chutes for heavy crafts
- Troposphere 0m till 8km - good drag for speed increase - if chutes are not deployed and are ready for a full deployment the craft has no option to land safely as the craft will start to increase its own speed towards the ground
PS. at the end of the video there is a designing bonus for you ;-)
