I finally got the DLC's and to test out the robotic parts, I made a space pogo stick! There was an actual proposal to build something not the same but the same general concept for actual lunar exploration:

It not only looked like balls of steel, you would need balls of steel to fly it. ;)

In this pogo stick concept, the stick would slide through a rack and pinion device in the middle of the vessel, though there was also suggested a pneumatic device similar to the hydraulic mechanisms in my ship.

KSP2 is coming up in 2020: I probably won't buy it until the price comes down though my financial resolve could slip if it looks really good. ;)
