Knee Deep in Demons: Bob Plays Doom 2016
1I was a paleo gamer. I didn't play the first Wolfenstein, the grandfather of all first-person-shooters, but I did play the original Doom. A lot. After, I moved on to Unreal Tournament mostly, a bit of Quake, but when friends gathered to play on LAN, it was more likely to be the original Unreal or Unreal Tournament.
Some of the later iterations of Doom, while fine in their own right, did not match up with the spirit of the original Doom. The original Doom was fast-paced, kinetic and gory. You weren't a scared survivor waiting for what would go bump in the dark halls. You were a badass taking names and ripping spleens. And of course the music: as hard and adrenaline-rushing as the action. THAT's Doom.
And that same spirit came back in 2016 like an unstoppable space marine. Sure there is a new backstory for our unnamed hero, he's more interdimensional demonslayer than human soldier. Whatever. It's still Doom, but with all the glorious graphics and gore that the 21st Century could provide.
I might make this a series, we'll see. I'd also like to do a KSP career mode series at some point, we'll see on that too. There's a lot going on in my life at the moment, good things, but time for play and recording is going to be limited for awhile.
