Immersive Technology:
Mērcer Labs places technology at the forefront of its installations.
The first of 15 experiences takes visitors through a giant room equipped with 26-foot-high projectors. These projectors blast a series of images all around, making visitors feel like they’ve stepped inside the motifs explored by the artist Roy Nachum.
Another room features one of only three 4D sound studios in the world. Guests wear blindfolds and lie on the floor to fully experience the sounds emanating from 36 embedded speakers.
Inclusivity and Accessibility:
Nachum’s dedication to inclusivity is evident throughout the museum.
Braille text accompanies many of Nachum’s paintings and installations, making the space accessible to visually impaired visitors.
The sound room, meant to be experienced with a blindfold, exemplifies this commitment to inclusivity.
Other Installations:
Mērcer Labs has a total of 15 different rooms, each designed to engage all the senses.
Notable installations include:
“The Dragon”: A room adorned with 500,000 individual LED lights hung on strings, creating 3D videos (including a galloping horse).
Cave of Pink Flowers: Soon to be a bar, this room features plastic pink flowers and adds to the overall sensory experience.
So, if you find yourself in NYC, don’t miss the chance to explore MērcerLabs and witness the fascinating Kuka Robot in action! 🤖🎨🏖️
