Langrisser I Remastered - Part 01 - Chapter 01 - Castle Escape - Path A
Langrisser is quite a simple Strategic RPG, but an enjoyable one none the less. There are some challenging levels in it - the next one can catch you off guard as can some of the end game levels on some routes.
The plot and ending can wildly vary depending on the path you're on.
From Prince of Darkness, to King, to the agent of Chaos.
I'm playing with the remastered settings on. You can swap on the fly to the original look (and back) so for those of you who wish to play it, don't fret.
I don't do any grinding between parts, but it is advised to repeat a previous level for a level up and/or class change through CP if you're struggling.
The initial questions can vary your starting gear and skills by quite a lot, and you can look up a guide for various outcomes but I just answered honestly.
The First Chaper sees Ledin running from the Galsis empire. You may as well take out a few enemies for the much helpful CP and experience. Targetting the commander and killing it can be effective, as this will remove the mercenaries instantly.
Don't bother staying around for the Emperor, as he'll crush you at this point.
You do get introduced to the strengths/weaknesses in this early level. They're kind of similar to any other RTS / RPG. Your Soldiers have an advantage against Spearman but lose to Cavalry. This is when the Attack/Defense stats are equal, and you should bear in mind.
Magic is later the best way to exploit these weaknesses as they're generally multi target spells with a decent AoE by this point.
Buffs are generally the best way to get the edge in fights (particularly offensive buffs), and I find that Movement is a VERY important stat - even for Mages. Getting the first hit on your enemy can make a big difference, especially if you combine this with losing a buffed turn by not being able to move far enough.
You can replay levels at any point to get extra experience, and the next level can be tricky if you're new to this kind of game. Repeat the level until you get enough CP for a class upgrade on Ledin, and the next level should run more smoothly.
Volkoff's level should be a red flag.
I will cover all paths in this playthrough, so It's best to watch them in upload order, as some levels repeat with minor differences and I skip dialogue in this instance. The level end at the name will give away if it's a repeat, but some of the repeats have big differences in terms of plot, and difficulty, so by skipping the dialouge it makes it more worth watching!
As a side note, I had to rerecord Chapter 03, so I play it with my end game save.
