Lapping the Nordschleife in BeamNG at Scary Speeds | BeamNG 0.21 Tire Model Update
89BeamNG 0.21 tire model update with the powerful high downforce hill climb cars! Using anywhere from 500 hp to 800 hp, these are incredibly fast cars All cars had gearing adjusted for top speed down the long Nordschleife straight, but tunes were otherwise unmodified. A serious step up from the ETK K-Series Trackday, even the slowest hillclimb lap was 16 seconds faster. A 6'42 makes the SBR4 hillclimb car faster than a Pagani Zonda R for comparison. Also faster than a McLaren P1, and with a perfect lap (likely on my G27 steering wheel) could easily beat the 6'40 set by the Porsche 911 GT2, especially running minimum fuel load as manufacturers do.
No ESC and no assists equipped on all but the Vivace Hillclimb car, which comes equipped with race ABS, maybe explaining all the near misses and some of the crashes. Easily besting modern supercars in BeamNG version 0.21, hillclimb cars has never been more confident at high speeds. The SBR4 is extremely confident at speed and during braking, often having so much grip as to handle 100% braking pressure without lockups. The Vivace Hillclimb is much scarier in braking zones, opting for less downforce and being the only one to hit 200 mph on the straight, but otherwise a very composed car with maybe a little excess rear brake bias. The Pessima is a little rougher handling, with weak braking performance and less power, but corner exit acceleration and overall performance is still great. The Sunburst Hillclimb has great braking performance and amazing handling, but not enough power to overcome the drag, losing time to poor top speeds on this track.
BeamNG's physics continue to improve and it's apparent with how well it works with this port of Assetto Corsa's Nordschleife laser scanned track. Nurburgring hot laps never get old for me, and it was a blast to get these laps with all of the hillclimb cars. Note the lap times may be slightly inaccurate due to frame dip issues that are sometimes common with this mod.
