Late-Game Minecraft 367 :: Starting On Another Big Excavation
After processing some drops at the mob farm, we embark on another big project today! It requires a large space underground, so we clear out some space and set up a beacon. We turn on the beacon and activate the Haste II effect so that we can break stone instantly!
Checking our villager's trades, we head up to the deepslate base to get some cobblestone! We still have many bows at the mob farm that we are eager to craft into dispensers. With some redstone blocks, we head down to the mob farm again!
After slaying a slime, we remove the chests of bows to drop all of them on the ground! Then, we start crafting dispensers. We manually take the bows out of the chest beside the cauldron though, as we are afraid that the items will drop into the lava!
Sleeping for the night, we empty the chest of bows! Altogether, we have crafted slightly more than one stack of dispensers. We shift the cauldron to the side before trading with our villager! We buy more redstone from the cleric before leaving.
At our basement, we collect some pointed dripstone! We put the excess cobblestone back into the attic and keep our dispensers on the first floor. Then, we bring out the beacon from the Ender chest! We head down to the staircase to the mob farm and begin digging out a side passage.
The staircase seems like a good place to start digging from, as we plan to create a tall and wide space! We could use the staircase to help us get up and down. After digging a small distance away from the staircase landing, we place down our spare interior blocks and start to dig to the side!
We are a little too close to the nearby ravine though! We mine too close to a water source and our excavation area starts to flood. Oops! We mine one block further away from the ravine which seems to work! Then, we place down some slime blocks for measurement.
Slime blocks are useful scaffolding blocks for construction, as they can be placed and destroyed easily! Also, as compared to actual scaffolding blocks, slime blocks are able to float by themselves. However, it is a little difficult to stand on them since they are so bouncy!
As we mine, we unintentionally make a hole to the ravine in the ceiling above us! We use some slime blocks to climb up. Seeing that it is almost night, we place our bed down and patch up the hole before going to sleep! We head back to the project area by making a hole in the wall of bone blocks.
We find some coal ore on the ceiling and mine it! Once we have the width that we need, we mine a small tunnel away from the ravine for our beacon. Then, we head up the stairs and start mining out another passage that leads to the new underground space!
Replacing the blocks for the interior of the passage, we head down and check the coordinates of the tunnel! We had placed a slime block where our beacon should be. We go up to the surface and look for the same spot before digging down!
Finding some copper ore, we mine it before proceeding deeper into the earth! We find our slime block and start hollowing a space for the beacon pyramid. It takes a while, but we soon have a space that is 11 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall!
We place down a cross of iron blocks before sleeping for the night! We realise that the bottom of the beacon is only 9 blocks wide, and we remove the extra blocks at the side. We find that we need to mine out more stone for us to climb up and down the pyramid easily!
Placing down the beacon block, we sacrifice an iron ingot for the Haste II effect! Now, we can mine the stone blocks in an instant. We dig out a big volume of blocks before storing all of them in our Shulker box! Then, we retreat to the corner to end the episode.
