Characters (The Killer Whalers)
Mac (Jerry). Goliath grave cleric. Smuggler from the jungles of Monmerg. Worshipper of Wee Jas. Mac works for Kbreb Shenker at the Empty Nest (seedy bar) and knows Anders Solmor from the place. Was a former smuggler for the Blacksspire Confederacy which broke up. Served on the Lady's Grace with Thirvan. Has a red skull tattoo on his head.
Bleth (Juliet). Human paladin of Procan. An ink-black whale ate her parents. She threw herself off of the Drop but Skyler caught her. She was raised by Ferrin at the temple to Procan. She is also a dock ward for Anders Solmor. Ander's father was killed by the same whale that killed Bleth's parents.
Skyler (Bryan). Aarakokra storm cleric. Knows Wellgar Brinehands. Saved Bleth from throwing herself off of the Drop. Brought both Dave and Korvel to Wellgar when they came ashore.
Dave (Jay). Triton monk and fisher. Saved Korvel during a fishing expedition in which Korvel was nearly killed. Brought Korvel to Willgar Brinehands who saved his life. Knows of the Endless Nader, a section of the deep ocean that seems like a tear in the fabric of the world.
Thirvan (Pat). Half Sea elf storm sorcerer. Served on the same pirate ship as Mac. Saved Mac's life after the Lady's Grace (the ship on which they served) sunk (Was the whale the culpret?). Met Ferrin the druid when burying his captain along with Mac.
Korvel (Joe). Human fighter. Fisher who got knocked in the head during a bad fishing expedition. He was saved by Dave and healed by Wellgar. Proselytizes the god Zygag who came to him when he was knocked in the head. He and Dave both served Eda Oweland and Eda pays Dave a stipend to take care of Korvel.
Strong Start
Woman's body washed up on shore dressed in prisoner's rags and with marks of being bound hand and foot. She was the sister of a knight. The two of them planned to go to the haunted mansion to get the alchemist's gold.
Scenes
- Meeting with Anders.
- Travel to the mansion. Villagers follow until they see the mansion and then leave.
- Exploring the mansion.
Secrets and Clues
* People who have gone to the haunted mansion have heard unholy screaming inside and seen strange lights dancing in the windows.
* Both the attic and the cellars are filled with horrifying monsters that rumble about, some use tricky human voices to lure in their victims.
* In truth, smugglers are using the haunted mansion as a staging area. They killed Prunell Goldblade and captured his sister Helvenya Goldblade but she escaped and drowned from the Sea Ghost.
* Rumor has it that an alchemist had learned how to turn base metals into gold. No one has found his secret laboratory.

Anders Solmor. Neutral Councilmember. Young noble orphan of rich parents. Father died at sea. Mother died of a wasting disease. Direct friend with Mac and Bleth. Maybe Dave and Korvel? Worked on Solmor ships? Does Solmor pay Dave's stipend? Thirven knows Mac and Skyler knows Bleth.
Wellgar Brinehanded. Priest of Procan. One-legged former whaler. Raised Bleth. Saved Korvel. Served as acolyte by Skyler. Direct connections to Bleth, Skyler, Dave, and Korvel.
Ned Shakeshaft. Agent of the Scarlet Brotherhood. Has a contact in Saltmarsh who wears a black cloak and mask and has a strange way of clearing his throat after telling jokes. He was sent to the haunted mansion to spy on the pirates and see if they would make a good front for the Brotherhood.
